UPDATED! Today In Pig Roast News: SmallBar Division, 2 Sparrows, and Homestead

If you want to know what’s trending in food, just hack our inbox. Today it’s pig roasts; we just got two announcements within a few minutes. Pig roast #1 is September 2 at Smallbar Division starting at 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., in honor of their 8th birthday. Chef Justin White will lay out what’s promised to be a full picnic spread, and $15 gets you all you can eat plus the draft beer of your choice. There will also be music by The Hat Stretchers.

Pig roast #2 will be at 2 Sparrows on September 14 at 7 p.m., where chef Gregory Ellis will be roasting a juicy whole hog from Catalpa Grove, served with downhome sides like corn fritters with honey, wedge salad, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and peach cobbler. Oh, and bourbon; Louisville Distilling Company’s Angel’s Envy bourbon will be featured in four specialty cocktails. The price is $35 (drinks a la carte); call 773-234-2320 for reservations.

This just in: Homestead will be roasting a whole pig at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 9. Tickets are $45 and it will include lots of Swabian Hall pig, appetizers and sides, and Templeton Rye cocktails, plus desserts from West Town Bakery & Diner. Go here for tickets.
