Chizakaya Closes, Looking To Relocate

We’re not exactly startled by this news, since we stopped by there a few weeks ago for its Wednesday lunch hours and it was shut tight as a hamaguri, while chef Harold Jurado has been talked about in regards to the glitzy new Jellyfish (and his #2, Robert Rubba, returned to New York City long ago and has pretty much been forgotten here). And in any case, has the izakaya concept really worked anywhere yet? (Yusho, maybe, though they seem to avoid the term.) In any case, Eater reports that once-hot Chizakaya was closed by Jurado’s family (who own the building), but may try to reopen in a more promising neighborhood than that somewhat forlorn stretch of Lincoln, like Wicker Park.
