Own a Great Big Jug of History: McJordan Barbecue Sauce

Remember the McJordan? Back when McDonald’s and Michael Jordan were likethis, they invented a hamburger that was named for Jordan. Like most things in fast food, before they’ll bring one more piece of equipment or ingredient into a restaurant, they’ll try to mix something new out of what they already have, so by great good luck, Michael Jordan’s idea of a burger just happened to contain the bun, patty, pickles and onions of a Quarter Pounder, the bacon off a breakfast sandwich, and the BBQ sauce from the Chicken McNuggets. Oh wait, no, this was special McJordan BBQ sauce. Sure it was; the only difference in smoke-flavored high fructose corn syrups was that they shipped it in jugs. Anyway, some guy saved one of these jugs, who knows why, and it’s now on sale on eBay starting at $9.995. Is anyone insane enough to buy this? We’ll see, but in the meantime we’re feeling really old, because not only do we remember the McJordan… we remember the meeting at Leo Burnett where they introduced the font used in the ad for the McJordan that Gapers Block displays (chosen by our next door office neighbor Jim Hanon, as we recall).
