A number of Chicago-area breweries did well by themselves at this weekend’s Great American Beer Festival in Denver on Saturday. Revolution and Two Brothers each won two medals: Revolution won a gold for Cross of Gold in the English style summer ale category, and a bronze for A Little Crazy, an American-Belgo style ale, while Two Brothers won a silver for Ebel’s Weiss in the south German-style hefeweizen category and a bronze for Domaine DuPage in the Belgian French-style ale. Other golds in the region went to Goose Island for its India Pale Ale and Brickstone Brewery in Bourbonnais south of Chicago for its American-style pale ale (that entire category, in fact, was dominated by the Chicago area, as the Trib’s Josh Noel points out, with silver going to Piece Brewery’s The Weight and bronze to Three Floyds’ Zombie Dust). The last remaining medal for Chicago was a bronze to 5 Rabbit for 5 Lizard, a fruit wheat beer. [Tribune]
