Venice’s Red Garter Reopens as RG Club

The RG Club Photo: Yo! Venice!

From dive bar to grime bar to jazz club. Venice’s legendary Red Garter reopened last night with a swanky new ‘do. Yo! Venice! reports that this old haunt is again re-open under the name RG Club, revealing more of a supper club look, with snazzy black chairs and a central piano. New touches include a patio space, cocktail tables, and a revamped bar. Sexy martian leg signage and wheat-paste art by Shepard Fairey and The London Police has been replaced by some jazzy new neon out front, while live jazz shows, many of them featuring sax-man Azar Lawrence, who played with Miles Davis on his album “Dark Magus,” with a reasonable cover are on the nightly schedule.

RG Club, 2536 Lincoln Blvd. Venice; 310-822-1715.

The RG Club Opens at 8pm Tonight! [Yo! Venice!]
