In 2013 the Vetri crew is taking those monthly Industry Night parties that they’ve been hosting at Amis up to their gastro-funhouse on North Broad Street, Alla Spina. For the first one of the new year, happening on Monday, January, 7, they will welcome Chicago restauranteur Paul Kahan and some of the top brass from his restaurant the Publican. And “epic Pigfest” are the operative words. Kahan and company are planning on treating guests to their legendary Publican Pork Rinds. Pig’s head bollito misto in beer broth with chestnut noodles, pork belly piedina with long hots and provolone, and eggnog milkshakes are also on order for the evening.

Also on tap for the newly relocated party: Alla Spina’s third custom-brewed house beer from Victory Brewing Company. The new brew, dubbed Hundred Horse, is a chestnut ale brewed with German and English malts, and a Kolsch yeast. In addition to it, Alla Spina will have specials on cans of Pork Slap Pale Ale, Marlot cocktails (Chicago represent), kegged Amaro, and Negronis on tap.

Along with giving, the Vetri crew will be receiving, too. They are asking chefs and others to donate new and gently used cookbooks for the Vetri Foundation For Children’s latest undertaking, assisting the Audenried Charter School in building a culinary library for its students. Those who bring books will receive a complimentary Hundred Horse.

As usual, the food is free, and the drinks are cheap. A recent paycheck stub from a restaurant gets you entry. Teh party gets underway at 10 p.m.
