We'd say it grew from humble beginnings, but the reality is that the Pastoral Artisan Producer Festival kicked off with good-sized crowds and has grown substantially each year, with this year's event drawing more than twice as many producers as the original one just two years ago. More than eighty culinary producers of all types will be at the free event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the French Market downtown (131 N. Clinton), offering tastes and demos from all across the U.S. (and a few international ones). There will be cheese producers like Cypress Grove Chevre (California) and Cellars at Jasper Hill (Vermont) and recent award-winners LaClare Family Farm (Wisconsin), beer, wine and spirits producers from Chicago's 5 Rabbit and Half Acre to FEW and Koval, charcuterie from Creminelli and Smoking Goose, a book signing by Zingerman's Ari Weinzweig, a BBQ butchering demo by Rob Levitt (The Butcher & Larder), Lillie's Q Charlie McKenna, and Brady Lowe (Cochon 555), and lots lots more.
