Mantuano, Bayless, Garces And More Stars Dishing Up Childhood Favorites Thursday Night at Terzo Piano

The Academy For Global Citizenship is a great charter school on the south side which, besides having an innovative academic program built around international awareness and sustainability, also walks the walks in terms of a highly sustainable campus and food programs. To know that their mission is serious, you only have to look at the chef names who are coming out Thursday night for a benefit at Terzo Piano called Chefs’ Playground, which has a great theme: inviting famous chefs to make favorite childhood dishes.

The hosts are Tony Mantuano and his partners in managing Terzo Piano, Bon Appetit Management, and besides Terzo Piano’s own Jason Gorman and Megan Neubeck, the amazing lineup includes Rick Bayless, Paul Kahan, Bill Kim, Jimmy Bannos Sr. and Jr., Jose Garces, Sarah Grueneberg, Giuseppe Tentori, Takashi Yagihashi, Jeff “Sandwich King” Mauro, Hedy Goldsmith (Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in Miami), and Marcela Valladolid (Food Network’s “Mexican Made Easy”).

Tickets are $225, with VIP tickets for $300 which gets you into the pre-party at 6:00 p.m., which includes time to mingle with the chefs and enjoy cocktails from Charles Joly of The Aviary. Otherwise, it’s from 7:00 to 10 p.m., and also features a live and silent auction, cocktails and beer from local distilleries and DJ Greg Corner. Go here for tickets.
