With Rockaway Taco’s chef moving to Beach 87th Street, the space on 96th Street is up for grabs — and this summer, founder David Selig will help host a Latin American-themed pop-up restaurant. The MP Shift, a New York-based design and branding studio founded by Anna Polonsky and Amy Morris, has conceptualized “the Summer Shift.” Starting on May 22, a rotating cast of New York chefs — all with roots in Latin America — will take over the shack and showcase recipes from their heritages.

The roster includes Fany Gerson (La Newyorkina, Dough), Camille Becerra (Navy), Gerardo Gonzalez and Nick Morgenstern (El Rey and Morgenstern’s Ice Cream, respectively), and Felipe Donnelly and Carolina Santos-Neves (Cómodo). All chefs will sell their dishes directly, à la carte, and the price point ranges from $4 to $12. Here’s the lineup:

May 22 to 25, May 29 to June 1, June 5 to 8, June 12 to 15: Leyla and Ximena Yrala and Carlos Varella (Neighbors)
June 18 to July 14: Fernando Aciar (O Café, feelfood)
July 16 to Aug 11: Camille Becerra (Navy)
Aug 13 to Aug 30: Felipe Donnelly and Carolina Santos-Neves (Cómodo)
Sept 1 to 7: Gerardo Gonzalez and Nick Morgenstern (El Rey, Morgenstern’s Ice Cream)
All summer long (May 21 to September 7): popsicles by Fany Gerson (La Newyorkina)
